Church Food Pantries, Non-Profit Food Pantries, Soup Kitchens, Group Homes, Assisted Living Homes, Halfway Houses, Daycare Centers, Senior Citizen Programs, Emergency Shelters, Neighborhood Centers, Healthcare Centers and Programs, Homeless Shelters, Homebound Meal Programs, School Food Pantries, and the Brown Bag Program of the Wiregrass.

What type of people do you hope will volunteer at the Food Bank?

The Wiregrass Area Food Bank welcomes volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. Hunger is no respecter of persons. It has an effect on the entire community, so the Food Bank solicits help from the entire community. There is a way for every person to help the Food Bank. It could be coloring pictures for our Brown Bag recipients, making food boxes, loading vehicles, helping keep the Food Bank clean, stocking shelves, or answering the telephone and folding brochures.

Who does the Food Bank really impact the most?

The Food Bank’s largest impact is among those who are struggling to get by and living paycheck to paycheck. There are so many people who are working and trying so hard to make ends meets, but they are one missed paycheck away from desperation. Food from the Food Bank helps them get by until they can get back on their feet. Most of the people served by the Food Bank just need a little help to get through tough times and then will pay it forward to help someone else when they are able.

How can the community help?

Donate. Donate funds, donate food, donate your time, or simply donate advocacy by helping spread the word about how far donations go when given to the Food Bank. Every one dollar donated provides nine meals to help our neighbors in need.
